About Fort Road Recreation Ground
Fort Road Recreation Ground is a large recreation ground in Newhaven. It lies at the foot of the Castle Hill Nature and the historic Fort, with views of the Marina and Ferry.
The park was gifted to Newhaven by the 3rd Earl of Sheffield in 1889, was requisitioned by the Royal Navy during World War 2 and is now owned and managed by Lewes District Council.
Fort Road Rec is already a well-loved space for dog walkers or for those wishing to participate in more energetic pursuits such as tennis, cricket, football and BMX.
